Vacancies at Scotts The Opticians

Person Specification

Scotts Opticians is a reputable independent practice in the market town of Thetford, South Norfolk. As the sole independent in the town, we look after the eyecare needs of over 5,000 people locally. We currently seek a dynamic individual to join us as a resident optometrist part-time, 2.5 days a week (every alternate Saturday morning).

We currently run a 45-minute clinic, offering plenty of time for thorough examination and cleaning of the testing room. You will have access to a comprehensive testing room, including full eye examination equipment, OCT and contact lenses. In addition, we have great relationships with local GP practices and hospital eye departments. We take part in shared care schemes across both Norfolk and Suffolk (including CUES) and you will have access and support to partake in training to become accredited for both regions.

We stock a wide array of frames, ranging from budget to designer. In terms of lenses, we partner with Zeiss and Essilor and offer a premium range of lenses we will train you up on.

In return, we expect that you are a focused optometrist who brings their A game to work, every single clinic. You want to learn and build relationships with patients long-term. We are a busy practice seeing challenging, but very grateful and loyal patients. We do not set short-term sales targets or hold you to conversion metrics, although we expect that you inform patients of the best products suitable for their needs. The additional time offered by our clinics allows for more in-depth conversations to occur, which in turn allows us to perform well as a business.

Finally, we expect that you are a fun, cooperative person to be around. We are a small team and whilst we are following disinfection procedures diligently, we do not want our people to be overly sterile. You should be a team player and not consider yourself too important to answer the phone or make a cup of tea for others. We have fun and like to enjoy our time in an egalitarian workplace.

We offer an above-average salary, including payment of GOC fees and a bonus scheme based on how the practice performs overall.
