Children’s Eye Examinations

“I understand your child's vision”

Studies have shown that one in five children have an undetected eye problem, which is a worrying statistic. If your child is suffering from poor vision they will find it increasingly difficult to concentrate in class, which could potentially affect their schoolwork and performance.

The Importance of a Child’s Examination

That's why it is so important for your child to attend a regular eye examination. A child’s first eye test should be before they start school. This is to make sure that they are not suffering from poor vision which could hinder their development in the classroom when they learn to read and write.

At Scotts Opticians, we believe that children's eye sight is important and therefore we will ensure that your child is examined in a comfortable yet clinically excellent environment.

Did you know that 80% of all learning occurs through vision. We have taken the initiative of being able to provide spectacles which can be used to help slow down myopia progression by upto 67% on average (Essilor Stellest lenses when worn for 12 hours) The options will be discussed during the eye examination if it will benefit the child.

Remember that if your child is under the age of 16 they receive a free eye examination, courtesy of the NHS. If your child eventually needs glasses, they will also be entitled to an NHS voucher, which heavily discounts the cost of spectacles to you.

If you think it is time for your child's eye examination, or you have noticed anything untoward about their eyes (e.g. squinting often, or struggling to see the television), book their eye appointment today by calling Scotts Opticians on 01842 764831.
